In this lesson you will be applying the idea learned in the previous lesson to half bar fills. This should be quite straight forward, you just come in with the fill on the '+' count after beat 2. Some examples of this are given below.
Exercise 1
A straight snare version to show how the parts fit together.
Exercise 2
Orchestrated as a straight roll around the kit with four on each drum, starting a quaver early.
Exercise 3
The fill orchestrated in groups of two.
Exercise 4
An orchestration making use of eighth notes.
Exercise 5
The first two notes of the fill have been split between two different drums here.
TASK:
- Using the 2 minute rule, learn all fills up to a tempo of at least 120bpm.
- Apply the fills to a Structured Pattern.
