Re orchestrating existing offbeat sixteenth movements by placing kicks and toms together.
In this lesson you will be taking some offbeat sixteenth movements learned previously and playing both kicks and toms on 'e' or 'a' counts. There are two areas you need to concentrate on here, placing the sixteenth notes exactly on the appropriate 'e' or 'a' count then placing the kicks and toms exactly in line. There are lessons linked at the bottom of the page that will help with this.
Listed below are several examples of this concept. Take your time when learning each version, make sure everything is placed where it should be then build up speed.
- Learn the grooves above up to a tempo of at least 130bpm.
- Create some 4 bar phrases where this concept is applied to the groove.
- Create further variations on the given examples as well as constructing your own groove patterns.
