A A A B Exercises Using Three Quarter Bar Eighth Note Fills

A set of exercises in part construction and transitioning between groove and fill.

The intention with the patterns in this lesson is to help improve your ability to switch between grooves and fills. The exercises are similar to our A B Exercises Using Eighth Note Fills only we have added in two more 'A' bars. The structure of all exercises here will be A A A B structure where A will be a bar of groove and B will be a bar containing a three quarter bar fill built from eighth note rolls.

As before, the important thing here is to repeat the four bar phrases over and over, preferably with a metronome, until you can play the part several times without any breaks in timing. I have provided various lengths of fill to mix things up.
