This lesson is an orchestrational development of the basic Standard Triplet 16 Beat Groove covered previously in level 3. The linked lesson exaplain the mechanics and movements of the groove so I recomend looking through this first as this lesson just discusses a simple orchestration idea.
The aim of this lesson is to give you an alternate way of playing the groove when wanting to use toms. To acheieve this, the right hand will jump between the floor tom and snare while the left can play the high or mid tom. This is just a re orchestration of the previous lesson so should hopefully be pretty straight forward. Below I have shown the hands for the common and double time versions of this concept. I have included sticking to clarify how the hands fall.
Before progressing to the grooves below, make sure you are comfortable with the hand placement. The selection of examples that follow all use this sticking and have kicks applied at various points. As with the previous lesson, these start simple and get progressively more difficult. I have excluded any 16th notes to avoid the parts getting to complex, we'll look at that in another lesson.
