In this groove concept you will be creating two bar 6/4 patterns that are 4/4 groove ideas applied over the 6/4 time signature. This works much better with an even numbered time signature than with an odd (5/4 for example) as you will get three full blocks of 4/4 with the middle block being staggered across the barline.

Listed below are examples of grooves using this concept. This starts simple by applying level 0 grooves to this concept then gets more complex through the page. Phrase marks have been added in each example to show where the original groove is falling in the bar. This idea can sometimes be refereed to as 'ignoring the time signature' and works with many different combinations of time signatures. It is very important that you practice these patterns with a metronome so you understand where the bars are falling.

At the bottom of the page you will find a list of links that should help with learning these parts.
