The fills in this lesson will all follow the original 'R L L F' sticking (linked below) but will now be played as 32nd notes. In terms of orchestration you will just be moving the right hand around the kit. The jump in speed here is massive and it will most likely take a lot of work to get these fills upto a decent tempo. I strongly recomend working through the slower 16th note lessons using similar hand movements to get more comfortable with the co ordination element of the exercises.

All the movememts given below should look familiar as they are very similar to those used in previous lessons. I have mixed up the fill length and as usual with these concept lessons, use the given parts to aid you in creating your own fills.

Example 1

A fill based on the R L L F pattern played as 32nd notes

Example 2

A fill based on the R L L F pattern played as 32nd notes

Example 3

A fill based on the R L L F pattern played as 32nd notes

Example 4

A fill based on the R L L F pattern played as 32nd notes

Example 5

A fill based on the R L L F pattern played as 32nd notes

TASK

  1. Using the 2 minute rule, get the fills up to a tempo of at least 100bpm.
  2. Apply the examples as fills in a Four or Eight bar structured piece.
  3. Use the given parts to help create further fills.
