In this 9/8 fill construction lesson you will be taking various different short six note phrases and builing fills around them. These phrases will fit nicely into the time signature and you will get three full occurances. To make the patterns more interesting they will be based on linear movements and will involve breaking up a straight run of single strokes with kicks in various positions. Each fill idea will use the same movement for the full bar with variations on the orchestration.

Listed below are several ideas using this concept in various different ways. These can get quite complicated so take your time and worry about building tempo after you are comfortable with note placement. At the very bottom of the page you will find a list of lessons that may help with the movements presented on this page.
