The concept in this lesson is more about what happens immediately before a fill rather than the fill itself. The ideas in this lesson will all be based around half bar fills in 4/4 and on beat 2 you will be playing two eighth note snares. The fill that follows will on the '+' after beat 3. Written below are five sets of four bar patterns. Each follows an 'A A A B' pattern and this concept is applied during the 'B' section. In some cases the second of the two eighth notes are accented, this furthers emphasizes the pre emptive nature of the fill. This idea also gets particularly interested when used in half time patterns, example 4 shows this.
