In the Orginal 9 Stroke Roll Sticking we applied the rudiment to the time signature of 4/4 however, this isn't technically the most appropriate time signature. If you look back at the 5 and 7 stroke versions of the rudiment you will notice they are made of a burst of notes followed by a quarter note 'gap'. To get that quarter note gap in the 9 stroke roll we need to cut the time signature by a quarter note, putting us in 3/4. This is pretty straight forward, just play the original rudiment but leave less of a gap between each occurance.
