The Drumscore Story
Drumscore was founded in July 2003 by Dan Brigstock — a professional drummer who had spent years playing in bands and found himself frustrated by the lack of quality educational materials available for drummers who wanted to learn specific songs. Rather than accept that gap, Dan started writing his own and sharing them through what would become Drumscore.
What started as a personal project grew quickly. Drummers from around the world found their way to the site, and what had begun as a small collection of transcriptions evolved into a substantial library covering hundreds of artists across every genre and style. Alongside the growing catalogue, a custom request service developed naturally — drummers writing in asking for specific songs, specific sections, specific arrangements — and that personal, handmade approach has remained central to everything Drumscore does.
More than twenty years on, the goal remains the same as it was in 2003: to give every drummer — from complete beginner to working professional — the resources they need to learn, develop and enjoy their playing. That means accurate sheet music, honest lessons, and responsive personal support when you need it.
Dan continues to play in bands and work as a drummer alongside running Drumscore, and that active relationship with music informs everything on the site. This isn't a catalogue built by algorithms — every transcription is done by ear, every lesson written from experience.
