Level 0 Grooves With A 16th Kick On The 'e' After Count 4

In this lesson you will be taking some standard level 0 grooves and adding a kick in on the 'e' after count 4. The aim here is to give you a new groove construction idea but also to work on the accuracy of notes placed in between hi hats, otherwise known as offbeat sixteenths. At the bottom of the page you will find a collection of links to lessons that will be useful when learning these examples, if you find you are struggling to get the kicks in accurately have a look through some of these.

TASK

  • Using the 2 minute rule, get all grooves up to a tempo of at least 140bpm.
  • Create your own variations on these patterns by reorchestrating or altering rhythm.
