Reverse Triplet Moving In Groups Of Two

This lessons is another orchestration of the reverse triplet rudiment, it will be much easier to follow if you are familiar with the sticking. The orchestrations presented on this page will be similar to others based around specific lengths of grouping, you can find some of these linked at the bottom of the page.

In this lesson you will be creating a syncopated grouping by moving around the kit in groups of 2. If you were playing quavers or semi quavers this would be a perfectly normal grouping, however you're not, you're playing triplets which you would expect to see in blocks of three or six. So by playing in blocks over two over a rhythm made up of three notes you are creating an odd feel that will have an interesting sound. If you find are you loosing the triplet rhythm with this grouping keep the '1 tri plet 2 tri plet' counting going whilst you play it. It is very important to keep a sense of rhythm whilst playing these types of rhythm.

Feet have been included in all exercises but mostly as quarter notes. For this orchestration concept it is acceptable to use the same drum twice within a bar as long as two groups of two aren't played on the same drum in a row.
